but he isn't the only Smith on the Dallas Cowboys' roster.,Jaylon Smith may be the potential superstar of the family
Smith has performed slightly better in the preseason and certainly has more potential at his age than the aging Morris does.,Rod Smith, Jaylon's older but less heralded brother, it seems like he's winning. Despite Morris' former Pro Bowl pedigree, is currently battling with Alfred Morris to be the team's No. 3 running back. At this moment
and he still gained 33 yards on the other six attempts.,Saturday's game against the Indianapolis Colts was something of a breakout for Smith. He ran for 53 yards on only seven carries in the game, 20 yards, more than seven yards per carry. It didn't come on only one big run either. Lop off his longest carry
Coming into the season, it felt like a long shot that both Smith brothers would make the final roster. Now Rod is making that possibility feel more real each day. And Jaylon couldn't be prouder of his big brother, according to Rob Phillips of Cowboys.com.
a position he never played before. They asked him to gain 10 pounds. He's confident. He's looking like his old self.","That's my big brother. ” Jaylon said. “I’m his No. 1 fan.”,Womens Delano Hill Jersey,“I’m really proud of him
But it doesn't matter now. If Smith continues to win the battle with Morris, he'll see real carries in a run-heavy offense early in the season. Ezekiel Elliott's suspension opened the door for the other running backs on this team to shine. Darren McFadden is the presumptive starter in his absence,Authentic Arthur Brown Jersey, but if Smith is the backup he'll get plenty of opportunity to prove himself to both the Cowboys and other teams that might want to sign him later.
Jaylon Smith's NFL success was practically preordained. He was an incredible prospect coming out of both high school and college even if he did suffer a knee injury that cost him his rookie season. Rod's journey was a bit more tumultuous, but now, it seems as though he's finally ready to contribute at the professional level.
Zack Martin: Maliek Collins will be one of the best DTs in NFL
most among rookies who spend the majority of their time as interior pass-rushers.,Maliek Collins had an extremely promising rookie season for the Dallas Cowboys. He finished the year with five sacks
he's optimistic about Collins' chances of getting there.,That interior rush is incredibly important to Rod Marinelli's defensive scheme. He had it with Warren Sapp in Tampa Bay. Now, and according to Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News, he hopes to have it again in Dallas with Collins
the best blocker in football. It's a challenge every day to be ready to go. He seems to really take to that challenge.Authentic Delano Hill Jersey,","He's built perfect for the position, he gets an opportunity every day to work against Zack [Martin]," Marinelli said. "He's got that low center of gravity and great feet. He's like a big fullback playing out there athletically. I think it's coming for him. Plus
and that All Pro guard has plenty of faith in Collins.,That opportunity to practice against Zack Martin is rare.Womens Nazair Jones Jersey, Collins will never face an opponent more difficult than the one he sees in his own building every day
"He's got that power and obviously all the quicks, so it's great for us to go against each other as much as possible," Martin said. " He's going to have a big year."
" Martin said. "He's great to work against because I truly believe he's going to be one of the top three-techs in the NFL.",Authentic Shaquill Griffin Jersey,"He's got that combination of leverage and strength and speed and quickness
Given the state of the Cowboys' secondary right now,Authentic Nazair Jones Jersey, the team is going to need all of the pass-rushing help it can get. Taco Charlton has had a mixed training camp,Womens Arthur Brown Jersey, David Irving has been suspended for the first four games of the season and Benson Mayowa has dealt with injuries for most of the preseason.
but he's going to have to grow up awfully fast.,That means that Collins is likely going to have to carry a huge load, particularly early in the season. Players take leaps between their rookie and sophomore seasons, and the tape suggests he's on that path, but the Cowboys essentially need him to be a superstar. Martin thinks he can do it
